[Problem Description]
There’s a known issue that a script error occurs in some Visual C++ wizards on a computer installed with Internet Explorer 8. However, its workaround has only been introduced on some blogs. Appropriate measures should be taken to get it known more widely.

[Problem Statement]
- Some Visual C++ 2005/2008 wizards do not function correctly after Internet Explorer 8 is installed.
- Although Microsoft recognizes this as an issue, its workaround has not yet been released as official information or on a fairly-reliable webpage.

[Problem Suggestion]
- Release as KB.
- Publish to the MSDN webpage as the latest information.
- Publish to the Visual Studio Start Page.
- Publish to the Visual Studio webpage.
- Release a hotfix.
- Release through Microsoft Update etc. (if possible.)

Thanks for reporting this issue. As you yourself noted, a workaround for this problem is available at the following blog post:

We are working to provide a wider availability of a proper fix. We will communicate appropriately when that work has been done. For now, we have another work item to track that exact same issue so we are resolving this bug as a duplicate.

The Internet Explorer team has released a security update to IE as mentioned in the IE blog:
http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/archive/2009/06/09/ie-june-09-security-update-now-available.aspx

This update also fixes the problem that caused some Visual Studio wizards to pop up a script error. After applying this update, the earlier workaround in the registry is no longer required, and the wizards should work fine.
